Ich habe ein in der Schweiz handgefertigtes Schmuckstück – 18-karätiger Goldring mit 3-karätigem australischen Opal – zur Einschätzung vorgelegt. Das Angebot orientierte sich ausschliesslich am Goldgewicht und lag bei 350 Franken. Der Hinweis, dass man ja nicht verkaufen müsse, war freundlich gemeint und grundsätzlich richtig. Besonders dann, wenn das Angebot ohnehin keine nähere Auseinandersetzung mit Stein, Verarbeitung oder Herkunft erkennen lässt. Wer seine Stücke umfassend bewerten lassen möchte, sollte sich überlegen, ob dies der richtige Ort dafür ist. Für mich war der Besuch aufschlussreich – wenn auch in einer anderen Hinsicht als erwartet.

Hedley Prynn is an extraordinary gemologist and jewellery expert. He is very welcoming and makes you feel at home right away. Me and my husband went there with the intent to sell a gold necklace. Mr Prynn examined the gold necklace in front of us and walked us through the process, we both admired his professionalism and knowledge. He then offered us a very fair price for the necklace, which we gladly accepted given his insight and evaluation. At no time we felt pressured by Mr Prynn into selling the necklace to him.
