This restaurant had been on my wish list for quite some time—and it was absolutely worth the wait. I saved it for a special occasion, and it truly delivered a memorable culinary experience that makes you want to return the moment you leave. Each dish was beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. A standout was the squid carbonara—ingeniously made with finely shredded squid instead of pasta. It was unexpectedly delicious and completely unforgettable. Combine that with the warm, attentive, and highly professional service, and you have the perfect recipe for a flawless evening. I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!
This is a beautiful restaurant with impeccable service. I did not know anything about this place and happened upon it after a very long walk. I had just flown into Zürich very very early that morning and was trying to balance the time difference between Switzerland and New York. Honestly, I walked in not even thinking that I was going to have a meal. It was at that strange time between breakfast and lunch service. Luckily they serve beautiful food all day long. I was astounded after looking at their menu to see an array of vegetarian dishes. I had two appetizers, the heirloom tomato carpaccio, and a daily special that was artichoke and asparagus based. Both of these small plates were some of the best vegetarian food that I’ve had anywhere in Europe. Janice, the incredible woman who made me feel welcome and who brought me some of the most delicious food I’ve ever had in my entire life, was also knowledgeable about the wine list in a way that was transformative of my dining experience.
I have tried this restaurant, holding 1 Michelin star, for a Sunday roast. For context; I have tried multiple Michelin stars in Europe and beyond, although this is the first Swiss one. Overall, the experience was positive, food was good, some improvements would be nice (personal taste). Now: when trying a Michelin star, it’s not just about the food. It’s about service, timely dishes, small details. Firstly: staff is very kind and nice, in my option, trained to be working in such settings. However, we were asked for water and received the Sunday roast menu. I had to ask for the beverages menu. My partner received his beer. Meanwhile, we received the entree, and only then did I receive my cocktail. From a 1 star I expect coordination and beverages at the same time - and in any case - before food. My reposado was balanced in taste, apricot and lime gave a nice contrast of sweet and sour. Still, no decoration nor fruit which made it underwhelming (again, the "little details"). Ceviche and ravioli were top notch. Personally, I found the bread a bit too big in size and would have found nice to have some butter or oil. The chicken was very tasty, perfect. Potatoes (double baked) were good, but not exceptional. To my liking, but a bit too big floury. Asparagus were very crunchy - I loved them. Cheese board was interesting, especially with the selection of jams and honey. What I didn’t like was the cheesecake, which was not basque. Having tried it in San Sebastián and in the basque countries, I’d say it takes much more than a burnt coat, to be able to call it basque. It was truly underwhelming and I really can’t justify 24 CHF. Blue cheese, leaky consistency, served slightly warm: this is what a basque cheesecake is normally. This would be closer to a NY one. And it’s important to specify this (I ordered it precisely because of the "basque" and "burnt", otherwise I wouldn’t have). Now, I am not sure I would go back but it was a nice try. Also what I should say (again, for the whole "experience package") is that if you’re next to the open kitchen, it might be that you hear chefs talking. It’s not silent, and could be perceived as loud. This doesn’t want to be critics, just an objective review of my experience having tried other Michelin stars as well.
The service was nothing short of exceptional, with a team that was both wonderfully attentive, warm and knowledgeable, making every detail feel seamless. An absolutely exquisite selection of small delights (amuse-bouche taking roasted cauliflower to another level, limited edition rose radicchio, beetroot carpaccio with truffle sauce, to name a few), set the stage for what was to come—an unforgettable main course. The veal tenderloin was a standout, cooked to absolute perfection. The rich jus and porcini added incredible depth and aroma, while the radicchio brought a delicate balance of bitterness and texture that tied everything together beautifully. An incredibly light and fluffy Grand Manier soufflé with an elegant clementine glace topped off the culinary magic. Thank you again to Chef Marco and the entire team for a true sensory experience!
The food is great. For a one Michelin star, I appreciate the fact I could order a la carte. I love the surf and turf. However I was quite surprised the beef rib meat was so small not even 100g… the turf part is one medium red shrimp. I guess you have to expect Michelin size portion when dine in a Michelin resto. The service is not that Michelin star impressive. My dinner companion was not impressed by the deer meat dish. The price is definitely on the high side.
I had the incredible opportunity to dine at Eden Kitchen twice during my stay in Zurich – once for lunch and then again for dinner. Both experiences were truly unforgettable, but the dinner was particularly special. The lunch menu was magnificent, offering a delightful selection of dishes that showcased the chef's creativity and skill. However, the dinner menu was simply divine, exceeding all my expectations. I opted for the rabbit and quail, both of which were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The sommelier recommended three exceptional wines that paired perfectly with my meal, enhancing the dining experience even further. The service was impeccable throughout both visits. The staff was incredibly attentive and made me feel like the most important guest. The atmosphere was elegant and sophisticated, with stunning views that added to the overall ambiance. What truly elevated my dinner experience was the unexpected touch of personalized recommendations. Despite being unsure of what I wanted, the staff expertly guided me through the menu, suggesting dishes that perfectly matched my preferences. As a delightful surprise, I was also treated to amuse-bouches that were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend Eden Kitchen to anyone seeking a truly memorable dining experience in Zurich. It's a world-class restaurant with exceptional food, service, and ambiance. I will definitely be back on my next visit! 5 out of 5 stars!
