Hôtel Eden Palace Au Lac

7.2

12.2023 - post review With a 4-star hotel, we really came in with very high expectations — but our stay ended up being a mix of positives and disappointments. The hotel is quite a distance from the train station, and walking there with big luggage was tiring and inconvenient. When we first checked in, leaving a strong smell. We tried to adapt, but after one night, the noise became unbearable — and to make it worse, the window’s blind wasn’t functioning at all. Without it, there was no proper barrier for light or sound, making the room even noisier and harder to sleep in. We requested a room change, but communication at the front desk was poor — our request seemed to be ignored despite promises to arrange it. We had to follow up several times ourselves before a staff member finally assisted us. The new room was just okay, but we accepted it. On the bright side, breakfast was excellent — a spacious dining area with plenty of variety. The best part of this hotel is its location right by Lake Geneva — beautiful, calm, and perfect for a morning stroll. And if you’re visiting in winter, the Montreux Christmas Market is just steps away, adding a festive charm to the stay.

We stayed 2 nights in a standard room. Our room was not ready when we arrived so we waited as they said it would be a few minutes. It was much longer. Our room did not have a working fridge, disappointing things advertised were not in working order. There was an air conditioning unit or something that was through the window. It was raining when we were in Montreux so our floor was super wet as the set up was allowing water to come into room. My husband ended up disconnecting the hose for the night so we could actually close the window and stop the water coming in. The hotel is walking distance from the train station. Good location on the lake. Very picturesque but not sure I would stay here again. Restaurant downstairs we ate at. However limited menu until a certain time of night.

Such an olde style hotel but it really did feel in keeping with the surrounds and I loved the style of it from the grand piano in the foyer to the funky old style lift and airy high ceilinged room. I didn’t get to use the facilities enough to comment, but would return. The staff were great, efficient but cheery, I would have liked a kettle to enjoy a cuppa on the balcony (without a room service charge), but the view from my room more than made up for any shortcomings, it was insane! I could have sat there all day enjoying watching the sun go down, A lake view felt worth the extra. Location felt great, could walk everywhere easily. My next stay will be longer - thanks

I don’t usually go for larger hotels, but the location was important for us (jazz festival). I really, really recommend getting a room with a lake view as the lake and mountains were beautiful and having a balcony made it even better!!! The property was super clean and well-maintained. The bed was very comfortable and the room had air-conditioning. Staff were lovely and helpful, and the continental breakfast was decent (nice dining room too). A few downsides to be aware of... Re. room: no mini bar, no tea/coffee, no "extras" that you might expect for the price, and the bathroom was so so. Re. breakfast: no extras either, coffee is from a standard self-service machine and no à la carte menu (it's all self service), which is fine, but again, for the price there are no extras. I think the high price is all for the location and the building itself. Overall though still a really great hotel and I'd stay again.

Stunning hotel on arrival and lovely views of the lake. ||First slight issue is no one is able to check in till 3 pm even if room is ready , leading to big queues. They did kindly store our luggage. |We were told the hotel was full and couldn’t have our two rooms together. However the hotel did not appear to be full. ||We had a room on the city side where our fridge wasn’t on and we were unable to plug it in, no ac and the balcony is in bad repair but the room was clean. No tea coffee tray in the room. |We had no robes or towels for the pool, but others did. |We went for a swim , but the pool was freezing, colder than the lake. There was no bar service. It reminded us of faulty towers ! We had to walk to the hotel cafe, order and carry our own drinks back. ||Breakfast was tasty and a good choice eating in a massive dining space. |We cannot decide about this hotel so many features are lovely but it’s disjoined in so many ways.||We had lunch when we arrived and although we cannot fault the meal we had to move from the drinks table to the eating table and were unable to transfer our bill. ||There is a restaurant to eat in at night but no bar as such. |All staff are friendly and trying their best but we had to wait ages to get served for a drink.

Lovely location of the hotel, right on the lake, we much enjoyed the lake view room on the 5th floor, which was surprisingly very quiet at night. The breakfast room on the ground floor is stunning and reminding of the good old times. Room furnishing is simple, but bathroom could be better maintained. Breakfast was basic, and the restaurant on the ground floor did not seem to be too much interested in the guests. Hotel is approx. 10 min. easy walking from the train station and has plenty of restaurants near by.
