Restaurant Safran

Probably the most authentic Indian food you can get in Zurich. The flavours are rich and at the same time well balanced. It was an outstanding and excellent lunch. Very friendly staff. See you again soon!

Updated review following our visit for dinner in mid-November 2024: The restaurant has a great ambience and it’s so easy to park right in front as well. We’d previously visited many times for lunch when Safran offered lunch thalis and been delighted by the cuisine and how well it was prepared. Our visit yesterday with friends was disappointing due to the extremely long wait for our meals. We ordered soon after we arrived, yet our starters came almost 60 mins later, and the main courses about 90 mins later. This was far too long as we had three children with us who were hungry and kept waiting far longer than they should have been. The restaurant was busy but the kitchen should be better prepared to cope with this. I’d also ordered a drink which was forgotten in error and I only received it much later after asking a couple of times. The food was good (the Dal Tarka and Makhani were spot on!) but overall not outstanding compared to other Indian restaurants we have dined at in Zurich. The Bhindi (Okra) was not soft and could have definitely been cooked for longer to bring out much more flavour. I also felt the Paneer Tikka Tandoori was rather average - the pieces were too big and therefore it was lacking sufficient flavour. Safran has huge potential to go from good to great and I hope that improvements will be made, especially in service quality, to get to that level.

Waren hier für das Mittagsbuffet und sind begeistert! Tolle Atmosphäre, schön eingerichtet und vor allem ausgezeichnetes Essen!! Grosse Auswahl und super Qualität! Kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Der Service im Restaurant ist leider sooo schlechtund unfreundlich geworden, und dann noch lange Wartezeit! Das Essen immer noch super, aber wenn man als Gast nicht geschätzt und gesehen wird (ein Lächeln wäre eine internationale Sprache...), sucht man ein Alternativrestaurant... Wir sind wohl nicht die einzigen, das Restaurant war im Gegensatz zu früher am Samstagabend fast leer.

Das Essen ist hervorragend! Ich habe schon vor Ort gegessen, liefern lassen und via Too Good To Go geholt und war jedes Mal begeistert. Den Service als ich vor Ort gegessen habe, fand ich aber leider nicht so gut (nicht so aufmerksam, konnte kein Deutsch, liess lange auf sich warten).

Perfect spot. We had a lovely family dinner. Delicious food with a very attentive service. Everything was well prepared and we will definitely come back.

Best food in Dubendorf! Happy friendly service too. Highly recommend.
