Ziegel oh Lac

A very cool and conscious vibe, though the food didn’t quite land for us. The atmosphere is young, vibrant, and open-minded — it definitely has that modern, liberal Zürich feel. They seem to really care about sustainability and reducing food waste, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite meet our expectations. We tried the beef meatloaf with rösti and vegetables, but the portion of vegetables was minimal (just a couple of courgette pieces), and the rösti came out quite dry. The meatloaf itself had an unusual texture and mix of ingredients, making it a bit hard to enjoy. We also ordered kombucha, and unfortunately found some unexpected slime in it, which was quite off-putting. Some staff members were really nice but the one taking orders for and serving food was rather on the rude side. Overall, we enjoyed the concept and atmosphere, and we hope the food side will continue to evolve.

Es muss speziell erwähnt werden das die Vorspeise und der Hauptgang nicht gleichzeitig kommt ! Ansonsten hatt man da zu zweit schnell 4 Teller vor sich stehen was mir persönlich nicht gefallen hat da ich jetzt zuerst die Spagethies essen musste bevor die noch kälter wurden als sie ohne hin schon waren. Tja da hätte man die besser noch 5 min länger gewärmt. Alles in allem etwas Schade den man könnte mit kleinen Verbesserungen alles richtig gut machen! Fürs nächste mal wiessen wir bescheid.

Great food and vibe. The soup of the day was very special and the salad very fresh. The kombucha could be more sparkling but tasted good. The vibe and view was quite nice too. Overall, a nice and chill experience.

Wir waren am letzten Sonntag, seit langer Zeit und weil wir gerade in der Gegend waren, in der Roten Fabrik. Wenn man draußen sitzen kann dann ist es durchaus in Ordnung. Das Ambiente im Gastraum eher übel. Die Bedienung war in Ordnung aber das Essen eine echte Katastrophe. Geschmacklich am unteren Ende des erträglichen. Aber uns war allen hinterher übel. Schade um den schönen Ort am See. Hier sollte ein echter Gastronom wirken.

Although there was a lot of wait to take our orders, this was rapidly forgotten when our food and house wine arrived. Everything was delicious! I wish we could have one more day in Zurich to return there and try more option! The waitress was really nice too, you just have to be patient as there are a lot of people to attend.

Update 2025: Bedienung sehr freundlich und auch ziemlich speditiv. Leider ist das Angebot an Speisen immer noch zugunsten toter Tiere (drei Teller mit toten Tieren, ein vegetarischer (war allerdings um 20.00 bereits ausverkauft) und ein veganer. Irgendwie ist die Küche vom Ziegel etwas im letzten Jahrhundert stehen geblieben. Bitte mehr vegetarische und vegane Alternativen und weniger wo Tiere gequält und getötet werden müssen. Danke. Ich gebe trotzdem immer noch 5 ⭐... Der Ziegel oh Lac ist immer ein Besuch wert. Gute, einfache Küche. Insbesondere das Vegi Menu ist immer eine Empfehlung wert. Allerdings hat es fürs 2023 doch recht viel tote Tiere auf der Karte. Das Verhältnis sollte umgekehrt sein: ein Fleischmenu und der der Rest vegetarisch bzw. vegan. Momentan hat's nur ein vegetarisches und ein veganes Menu auf der Karte.Für Zürich günstig! Direkt am See, im Sommer kann man auch Draussen sitzen.

It's a cute place next to the Zurich lake. The view is nice especially on hot day. They have some good dishes. I tried a burger set with french fries which costs around 20 swiss franc.
