ENGIMATT City-Gardenhotel

I last stayed at this hotel more than 25 years ago when I worked for a Swiss insurance company and I was looking forward to staying there again during this visit to Zurich. The hotel has been renovated and the rooms and corridors look upgraded but there are tiny little details here and there that still showed its age. I have the feeling the private owners are struggling to contain the cost of running the property on their own. But the location is still good with a nice mall about 5 mins’ walk away and the city centre less than 2 km away. The residential neighbourhood is quiet and does allow good rest/sleep.

Ich war sehr positiv überrascht, kannte das Hotel vorher nicht. Gebucht wegen der Lage, Balkon am Zimmer und gute Preis/Leistung. Einziger Nachteil: Garage schon voll bei Ankunft am späten Nachmittag, kaum Parkplätze in der Umgebung. Für 2 Personen und mehrere Nächte, wäre das Zimmer wohl doch sehr klein. Für 1 Person für 1 Nacht aber absolut ok. Die Klimaanlage im Zimmer ist vermutlich die beste die ich je in einem Hotel erlebt habe (und bin weltweit viel gereist) - kaum hörbar und hat das Zimmer angenehm runter gekühlt an heissem Sommertag - eine Wohltat! Werde das Hotel gerne weiter empfehlen.

Although we had a long flight from the US, we set out to walk to our hotel room. (Kinda wished we were familiar with the river/ trail walk but Zurich was new to us.) After a bit of a walk from the train station - yes, bus or rail would have been easier - the front desk agreed to hold our luggage and contact us if our room is available earlier than check in time. This was a nice courtesy and we did a healthy walk to the lakefront until our room was ready. We enjoyed our comfortable room, as well as the breakfast. The waitresses are busy with the breakfast brunch but they warmly offer to get you your first coffee or expresso. Breakfast options were impressive, including local breads. Front desk was always helpful and provided needed tips. Local advertisement in hotel for admission to the Lindt Chocolate Museum was a huge success - and was very easy to use with QR code. Vacation here included the enjoyment of a cigar (from Engimatt's cigar bar) and a happy hour drink. My husband was in heaven. Great location near all transit and a mall. Very fun trail to walk or bike downtown along the water.

Great location just outside Zurich old town. Approx 10 mins on tram to old town. Hotel clean and tidy, additional charges for parking, and omelette (after paying for breakfast to be included in room). Staff friendly and welcoming, offered good asssitnace on catching tram to old town. Would come back, but only as stop over driving through.

Very well thought-through cozy rooms — the renovated ones are on floors 1 and 2. My 'classic' room was modern, clean and despite being small it didn't feel crammed at all. Comfortable bedding. Fast 100Mbps+ WiFi. Very quiet upscale area. Just 5-minute walk from Enge station (25-minute direct train from the airport). Customer service (Brüno and Sandra) were responsive, professional and helpful. The downstairs restaurant serves good breakfast, lunch and dinner. ... The business meeting room was very well organised, quality furniture and A/V equipment, along with catering options. ... Excellent value for money.

The location is great and the neighborhood is safe. The staff was very welcoming and nice. The hotel is very clean and quiet. I will definitely come back if I have a chance to be back in Zürich.

Sehr schade, dass die Küche am Nachmittag "Zimmerstunde" hat. Wir wollten was kleines Essen, Suppe Salat und Sandwitch. In einem 4☆☆☆☆ HOTEL sollte dies möglich sein ! Sonst waren wir zufrieden und würden auch wieder kommen zum ESSEN .
