Review: From the moment we arrived we felt special. The kind porter took our luggage upstairs where Christine at reception warmly greeted us with a drink of choice (we enjoyed Prosecco) and upgraded room due to our permanent platinum status. We chose complimentary breakfast which was exceptional. It is buffet plus one egg item from the menu. Our omelettes were so good! As was the coffee. Luke and his team looked after us each morning. We also enjoyed one dinner at the hotel which was equally exceptional. Switzerland is very expensive but we felt we received good value especially with the platinum benefits. Quick walk to the lake and about 15 minutes to the old town.
We stayed at the Marriott Autograph hotel for 3 nights in May 2025 (1st to 4th). The hotel is fantastic, perfectly located in Zurich, everywhere is a 5 minute walk. The hotel is very clean and modern. The staff are amazing, they can’t do enough to please you. The food is exceptional, the breakfast was included in our room rate as a member of the Marriott hotel chain. The hotel room was huge, we stayed in room 502, a beautiful suite which had the following - bedroom, walk in wardrobe, living room, outside corner balcony and a large bathroom. We’d certainly recommend this hotel to everyone, we’ll stay here when we return to Zurich in the future.
I'm a hotelier myself and love the hotel. the hotel is a small lifestyle oasis in the center of Zurich and you can be at the lake in just a few steps. The staff are great and courteous hosts with attention to detail. The delicious breakfast offers a perfect start into the day. The cuisine at lunchtime and especially in the evening is simply superb. |Overall an amazing treat.
I stayed in one of the corner suites with balcony on the 4th floor in April 2025. Here are some of my thoughts about this hotel. The Good: Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Nice shower set up – large walk-in shower, with good water pressure (no bidet though). The bathroom door is lockable to ensure privacy. Nespresso machine in the room. There is a Hertz rental car right next to the hotel, in the adjacent building, in case you want to rent a car to go sightseeing or on business. The balcony is good size and has two chairs and a small coffee table to sit at and enjoy the view (not that there is much to see but still). The hotel location: it is very close to the lake (literally 3–4-minute walk) and the Bahnhofstrasse is about 15 min walk and Zurich main train station HB is about 20 min walk. There are several Marriott hotels in Zurich, and Neus Schloss Private Hotel may have the best location of them all, in terms of proximity to the lake and the city center / train station. The Bad: The hotel lacks some of the amenities you might expect from a full-service property. There is no lounge, no swimming pool, and the lobby is quite small — so if you're hoping for a grand entrance with bars, coffee shops, or a shopping arcade, you won’t find it here. Each room has a small refrigerator, but it barely keeps things cool. This is particularly inconvenient if you enjoy cold drinks or need to store medicine that requires refrigeration. Based on conversations with other guests, this seems to be a common issue. There's no guest-accessible ice machine either, so ice has to be requested from the staff. To their credit, the staff was consistently responsive and helpful in delivering it. Another downside: during my four-day stay, I had to take lukewarm showers on two separate occasions due to interruptions in the hot water supply. This might have been a one-off issue, but 2 out of 4 days without hot water isn't a great track record. Hopefully, it has been resolved by now. The Mixed: It really depends on what kind of stay you are after - whether you prefer a boutique hotel vibe or a bigger property with more amenities. For example, Park Hyatt Zurich is just a short walk from Neues Schloss and is a larger hotel with more on-site features. If you are sticking with Marriott, the Zurich Marriott is closer to the train and main bus stations and has more of a large hotel feel, including a lounge. On the other hand, Neues Schloss Private Hotel is right near the lake and closer to the shops on Bahnhofstrasse, so it is a good choice if you are into a cozier, boutique-style stay. Summary: a good boutique hotel in a good location with excellent staff. I would stay there again with no hesitation, especially if you do not have any medicine that requires refrigerated storage – and assuming the hot water issue was a temporary glitch that has since been resolved. All in all, it is a good pick - especially for Marriott Bonvoy members who want to stay at a Marriott property in Zurich. While it does not have a pool or some of the high-end extras you would get at larger luxury hotels, it makes up for it with charm, location, and great service. If you are okay without the bells and whistles, it is definitely a nice place to stay.
I am a hotelier myself and love the hotel. The hotel is a small lifestyle oasis in the center of Zurich and you can be at the lake in just a few steps. The cuisine at lunchtime and in the evening is simply superb.
Extremely Disappointed – Unsafe and Unacceptable Experience I would give zero stars if I could. I arrived in Zurich at 10:00 PM after a long travel day, only to be told by Neues Schloss Privat Hotel Zurich that my confirmed reservation had been cancelled without any notice. Neither Expedia nor the hotel informed me of this. To be clear: this was not about the payment — the booking was clearly marked as "pay at the property." The issue was the complete lack of communication and responsibility from both parties. By that hour, there were no rooms available anywhere in the city. As two women traveling alone, we were left in a completely unsafe and stressful situation. The only option we found was a horrifying hotel with a single bed, which cost us 700 CHF for one of the worst rooms I’ve ever seen. We didn’t get to sleep until 3:00 AM. This wasn’t just a "booking error." It was a complete failure in basic responsibility and customer care. There was no support, no alternative offered, no accountability. This kind of negligence is not just unacceptable — it’s dangerous.
First and most important thing: If you are, or traveling with, someone who is physically challenged...do not stay here. The hotel is barely accessible (despite what I was told), if using any type of power chair you will have to use a lift to enter/exit the hotel. The lift is hidden by a large, very gaudy, curtain and it seems that they are embarrassed to have this lift in their hotel. Also, the lift (or elevator) is barely able to accommodate a small wheel chair. So, if you are in a full size wheel chair using the elevator/lift is impossible. Agent at reception was very argumentative and unprofessional. Manager offered a tiny refund for all the problems we had but did not come close to matching what they should have done. I made three calls to this property prior to arriving to ensure we would not have difficulty and did not receive reasonable information as to the accessibility of this property.
